What is a Clinical Dental Technologist?
A Clinical Dental Technologist is a modern addition the dental team. This new dynamic role is a fusion of two previously separate roles—That of a dentist and a Dental Technologist. The result is a highly skilled professional who has crossover skills that a Dentist or a Technician alone does not possess.
To qualify as a Clinical Dental technologist requires years of intensive postgraduate study and examination through various modules, for example; science, clinical skills, ethics and law, advanced denture construction, case studies.
Their position allows them to offer patients, for the first time, direct treatment for the construction, repairing and fitting of removable dental appliances. Clinical Dental Technologists and Dentists often work independently of each other but they often discuss treatment plans when it is in the best interest of the patient.
